I've been trying to install my oldie but goldie printer which is a Laserjet 6L. I have tried to download from HP but. Search for the printer driver.
Hi, Check with the Windows Compatibility Center Windows Compatibility Center As OEM HP is responsible for the proper operation of the printer and their supplied drivers. Check with HP Support, their on-line documentation and drivers, and ask in their forums. Good chance you need to update or re-install the latest available driver. This is an old question, but it is still linked from the Windows Compatibility Center, so to help anybody else having this problem - I have my HP LaserJet 6L working with Windows 8.1. Windows 8.1 initially automatically installed the 'HP LaserJet 6L PS Class Driver', but this doesn't work as the 6L does not support PostScript - so I got raw PostScript (like '%!PS-Adobe-3.0') coming out of my printer. So I had to manual go to the printer settings, select 'New Driver', and then click the 'Windows Update' button to update the list of available drivers, then Windows presented a 'HP LaserJet 6L' option, and that is a PCL-based driver and does work.
